I’m really desperate for advice on how to manage this cursed. I don’t even need to be active for sweat to be pouring off my face and making my hair wet. It’s getting so bad I don’t want to leave my home because I’m so embarrassed

Members rallied around the struggle of excessive facial and scalp sweating, sharing the profound embarrassment and isolation it causes in daily life, from avoiding leaving home to enduring hurtful nicknames at work. The most frequently recommended solution was oxybutynin (also called oxibutin), a prescription medication typically used for incontinence that many members reported changed their lives, though some noted side effects like severe dry mouth and that it may not work for those with bladder issues. A recurring theme was the importance of advocating with doctors by showing video evidence of sweating episodes, using tools like neck fans for comfort without shame, and finding hope in knowing others truly understand this deeply personal challenge.

I live in the UK and up till about 2 months ago I suffered just the same. I tried every lotion and potion going. Thought I'd call the Dr again in sheer desperation and he suggested we try a medication used to help with incontinence (I laughed a lot but would try anything).. Its changed my life, I still sweat but normally, I can work and still feel fresh. The medication is prescription only oxibutin. What a difference, I'm still in shock when I get home from work or a day out in the sun with dry fresh hair :)

I practiced what I preached (in my earlier post). I took short video clips of myself from dry to pouring off head and showed it to my doc during my July 31 visit. My pictures were worth a million words! He saw firsthand how very little it takes (activity such as snapping beans, emptying small light garbage cans in my house, and loading washer...) for my head and face to get soaking wet. I am waiting as I text for an RX from him to help the downpour !!! Not sure what he will choose to give me, but I had a notebook with every medication friends on this site mentioned they were using. I’ll post once I have it! Hang in there!!
